VCA Basic Safety online, in English

The complete VCA Basic Safety course material, with unlimited practice questions and an explanation after every answer. You study whenever it suits you, on a computer, tablet or phone.

What is VCA?

VCA stands for VGM Checklist Aannemers, the Dutch safety, health and environment checklist for contractors, known internationally as SCC. It is the safety certificate that the Netherlands and Belgium ask for from anyone doing high-risk work in construction, industry, engineering or transport.

Without it you will not get onto many sites. It is not a law but a requirement that clients write into their contracts, and in practice there is little difference.

Is VCA Basic Safety the right certificate for you?

VCA Basic Safety is for people who carry out the work themselves. If you supervise others, or you are self-employed doing high-risk work, you need VOL-VCA instead. We currently offer that course in Dutch only.

  • Fitter, installer, welder, construction worker or operator
  • Scaffolder, demolition worker or groundworker
  • Cleaner or maintenance worker on an industrial site
  • Driver loading or unloading on a site that requires VCA

Is your employer paying?

An employer can buy this course for several employees at once. They fill in a name and an email address for each person, pay once and get a single invoice; every participant then gets their own access link, in their own language.

How it works

  1. You order and pay online. That takes two minutes.
  2. You get an email straight away with your personal access link. There is no password to remember.
  3. You work through the material and practise as often as you want. Wherever you stopped is where you start again.
  4. When you are ready, you sit the exam at an accredited exam centre. You arrange and pay for that there.

About the exam

We provide the course, not the exam. You sit the exam at an accredited exam centre, under supervision. You register and pay there yourself.

The VCA Basic Safety exam can be taken in many languages. Which languages are available on which date and at which location differs per centre. Ask them before you start studying, not afterwards.

A VCA certificate is valid for ten years, counting from the day of the exam.

Frequently asked questions

Is the exam included in the price?

No. You pay the exam fee directly to the exam centre. The price on our site covers the course only.

Do I have to do it all in one day?

No. You can stop and continue as often as you like, within the period stated with the course. Your progress is saved.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, on a computer, tablet and phone, in any common browser. There is nothing to install.

Do I get the same practice questions every time?

No. Every round draws again from the question bank, with the same spread across topics as the real exam.

A question, or several people at once?

Are you enrolling colleagues at the same time, or are you stuck? Send us a message. On working days we usually reply the same day, in English.
